The Regional Consultative Group Meeting was led by ICC Qatar and hosted by ICC UAE at the Dubai Chamber of Commerce.
ICC Syria Chair Mr. Naji Chaoui, ICC Syria Vice Chair Mr. Ahmad Hamcho and the Administrative Consultant and International Affairs Coordinator Ms. Mouna Kiwan represented ICC Syria During the meeting.
The following points were addressed:
*Updates from NCs and 2023 forward plan.
*NCs reports on their late/current activities and share their forward plan for the year 2023.
*ICC Membership Focus: Implementation of the New Strategic Framework across ICC Policy advocacy, standards and capacity building.
*The Fight Against the Financial Crime Continues – Regional and International Perspective.
*Boosting small businesses through e-commerce.
*Updates on the HQ/NC Engagement Model Pilot Project.
Mr. Naji recounted that Syria in the past was ahead of its time in terms of development and was an attractive country to deal with.
According to Mr. Naji, Syria was the first country to have women in its parliament, and the first chamber of commerce in the Arab world was established in Aleppo in the 19th century. As time progresses, more women are appointed to leadership positions and are occupying more space in the entrepreneurship arena.
Ms. Mouna reported on ICC Syria’s activities concerning diversity and inclusion.
