ICC Syria Honored for Its Active Participation at “We Are ICC Week” and ICC World Council in Paris

The Syrian National Committee of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), represented by Mr. Naji Chaoui, Chairman of the Board, Mr. Marwan Affaki, Board Member and Chair of the Insurance Committee, and Ms. Mouna Kiwan, Director and Foreign Affairs Officer, took part in “We Are ICC” Week and the ICC World Council held in Paris from June 17 to 20, 2025.

ICC Syria joined over 100 delegations representing 170 national committees from around the world in this high-level global business gathering, organized by ICC — the unique platform that brings together the private sector under one multilateral umbrella.

The Syrian delegation received a warm welcome and was commended for its engagement as Syria gradually returns into the global economic system. The Syrian delegation actively participated in all specialized sessions and contributed to discussions focused on challenges to trade, taking the rebuilding and empowering of the Syrian private sector as a case in point.

In recognition of its role, the Syrian National Committee was awarded the prestigious “NC Star Award” — To recognize the outstanding efforts by ICC Syria in support of the Syrian private sector in 2024 -2025.

In a significant step, Mr. Marwan Affaki proposed the reactivation of the ICC Insurance Commission at the international level after it was successfully set-up at the Syrian national level, aiming to strengthen risk management mechanisms and support economic recovery in post-conflict environments.

About ICC – The World Business Organization

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) is the global voice of over 45 million businesses in more than 170 countries.

We believe that trade and international cooperation are essential to bring positive change to the world.

ICC is the only private sector organization with a permanent seat at the United Nations, and privileged access to key intergovernmental processes that shape global business regulations.

Our rules and standards facilitate nearly two-thirds of global trade, while our International Court of Arbitration resolves business disputes totaling more than $200 billion every year.

All of ICC’s global efforts are enabled by its unique network of national committees, offering real connection to local economies and impact in national capitals.
