Amid the ongoing developments in Syria, ICC Secretary General Mr. John Denton, accompanied by ICC HQ representative Mr. Davide Cichero, held a pivotal meeting with ICC Syria Chair Mr. Naji Chaoui, Secretary General Mr. Khalil Sara, Board Member Mr. Karam Bechara, and Administrative Consultant Ms. Mouna Kiwan.
The discussions focused on addressing the immediate humanitarian needs facing the country and supporting the resilience of Syrian businesses amidst current disruptions. ICC Headquarters pledged its assistance, leveraging the resources and expertise of the Private Sector Humanitarian Alliance (PSHA), of which ICC is a founding member.
During the meeting, ICC emphasized its commitment to facilitating the recovery and growth of Syrian businesses, underlining the critical role the private sector plays in fostering economic stability and resilience. Mr. Denton reaffirmed ICC’s readiness to mobilize its extensive global network to support Syrian businesses in re-engaging effectively with the global economy.
“Syrian businesses, if empowered to operate with integrity and in alignment with ICC standards, will serve as the driving force behind a functioning Syrian economy,” said Mr. Denton. “The private sector will be instrumental in rebuilding Syria and ensuring sustainable prosperity.”
