H.E. Dr. Amro Salem Minister of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, presided the General Assembly for the year 2020 of the International Chamber of Commerce Syria (ICC Syria) which was held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Damascus on Tuesday the 2nd of November 2021at 12:30 pm.
Was present, as well, Mr. Tamam Al Okda and Mr. Ayman Abu Zeitun, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Trade and Consumer Protection, and ICC Board Members and members within the quorum limitation as defined by the bylaws of the International Chamber of Commerce Syria.
The ICC Syria Chair, Mr. Naji Chaoui opened the General Assembly by welcoming H.E. Dr. Amro Salem, as well as all members present.
H.E. Dr. Amro Salem addressed the Session and stressed on the importance of the role that ICC plays as a regulator of the International Trade in the world, as well as, the role of ICC Syria and all Chambers of Commerce and Industry to strengthen the country’s economy.
Mr. Marwan Affaki, Chair of the United Insurance Company (UIC), the exclusive sponsor of the General Assembly for the year 2021, and ICC Board member, focused, during his speech on UN Climate Change Conference which will be held during November 2021 in the United Kingdom and which supports new projects that preserve the environment and reduce carbon emissions.
Mr. Affaki invited ICC Syria members to support these projects and follow the new global plans in this field in all activities.
Mr. Affaki informed about the reactivation of the Insurance Committee at the national level in order to reactivate it regionally and globally.
The 2020 Annual Report, in addition to TIR activities were overviewed.
Mr. Ahmad Haddad, ICC Board member, presented an overview about the international arbitration.
Ms. Mouna Kiwan provided information about ICC Committees : Arbitration Committee, Banking Committee, Intellectual Property Committee and Commercial Law and Practices Committee and an overview about the ICC Academy, which provides international accredited courses in the fields of trade, finance, banking and institutional work.
Furthermore, Ms. Kiwan presented ICC Syria International Training on “Incoterms®2020” developed by the International Chamber of Commerce Paris, and the training on Introduction to Documentary Credits & (UCP600).
